What’s a Disney World vacation without a few family photos to look back on or a good shot for the gram or two? Disney World is all about making memories after all and using the Disney Photopass system can be a great and easy way to do it.
What’s Disney Photopass?
I’m glad you asked!
Located all around the Disney Parks you will find Photopass Photographers ready to take your photo in front of some of the best backdrops *Disney World has to offer… and girl there’s a lot.
It’s a great option for big families or couples who don’t want to ask a stranger to take a quick snap on their fancy new Iphone and means you don’t have to worry about lugging a camera around with you.
All you have to do is strike a few poses and scan your Magic Band, it’s really as easy as that! Those cute Insta-worthy snaps will be magically transported to your Disney Memory Maker located on your My Disney Experience account (the same place you can make your Fastpasses). If you don’t have a Magic Band, don’t worry! The photographer will hand you a card with your photos on. Easy peasy!
The hardest part is working out what shot you love best. Good luck with that.
Where to find them
Arguably the star of the show right? This park has many Photopass spots to offer and all dreamy enough to transform your Insta grid or hang up on your wall in the living room. Whatever you prefer.
In front of the Castle – Because it’s an absolute must right? Have you actually been to Disney World if you haven’t got that classic castle shot? I don’t think so. There’s plenty of options too depending on what distance you fancy because those Photopass Photographers are dotted all the way down Mainstreet.
Tangled Restrooms – Yeah that sounds a bit weird right? Well this area (toilets or not) happens to be one of the prettiest themed areas in the park and you really don’t want to miss it. Bit of a fan of the pastel Lightroom filters? Aren’t we all! This area will be a dream come true.
But let’s ignore that for a second because what I’m actually talking about is after dark when the photographers make an appearance ready to take the most magical shot of guests holding a Tangled lantern. It’s beautiful but only happens at particular times so look out for that queue.
Tomorrowland Bridge – When you are heading over to fight against Emperor Zurg or fancying a chill on the People Mover, just take a second to pose on the bridge for a different angle of Cinderella Castle. Every view of that castle is magical you know.
Town Square Mickey Meet and Greet – It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t mention the main mouse that we all love and adore. A staple to everyone’s Disney World photo album and the only character experience I’m going to mention in this post. Why? Because you will likely find a Photopass photographer at every planned character meet. Mickey just happens to be the “absolute must-do” example.
The Epcot entrance – Walk through those turnstiles and smile. Of course why wouldn’t you be smiling?! Grab the family and celebrate the adventure you are about to embark on before even reaching Spaceship Earth (you know… that giant ball).
Morocco Fountain – One of my fave Disney Photopass spots and one that isn’t really talked about. If you are lucky enough to catch a photographer around the Morocco fountain, make sure you grab them (but you know… kindly). This pavilion is one of the most beautiful areas of World Showcase and you would be missing out if you didn’t share it with your friends on the gram.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
In front of the Tree of Life – Your next icon to tick of the list and the wildest of them all. That tree is something you could stare at for days and still be in awe of all the hand carved details. It’s not to be missed.
The overlook of Expedition Everest – Thrill-seekers won’t want to miss a shot in front of the mountain they have conquered and for those a little too scared (like myself) it’s the perfect opportunity to appreciate the details without having to scream. Well I guess you could if you wanted to…
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Hollywood Boulevard – Hollywood stars like yourself should always stop in front of The Chinese Theatre to take a snap for their adoring fans (or Instagram followers) right? Your inner diva is calling.
The Toy Story Land entrance – Well you certainly can’t miss it. That gigantic cowboy is a big hint and you better make sure you stop to say howdy to the camera.
Tips and extras
So putting it bluntly, you’d be crazy not to use these magical Disney Photopass spots to your advantage. My advice is to take as many as you can whenever you see a Photopass photographer even if you already have 10 shots in front of Cinderella Castle. Who knows, you might prefer a shot in the next 10. And if Memory Maker is already included with your vacation package… why not make the most of it?
There may be a time when a photographer mentions a magic shot. What’s a magic shot? Well it’s basically some extra pixiedust in your photo. Sure you may look a bit silly looking shocked at your empty hand but it will look great when Tinkerbell appears. Just go with it. Disney is for big kids too.
And lastly, don’t be scared to ask the photographers to take a photo on your own camera of mobile phone. As far as I’ve heard (but don’t quote me) the photographers will never turn you down as long as you are polite.
So grab your photo album and load that Instagram app. It’s time to share your magical memories and relive the dream.
